Discussion:
Is this Normal? Jerry Sandusky?

Say for just a second, just a second, this coach didn't purposely
touch sexual parts. (No I don't buy it but say for a moment I am just
the most naive person on the earth)

I have been listening to commentary on Jerry Sandusky's interview
where he admitted that yeah he was naked with kids in the shower and
yeah they fooled around (in a non sexual sense he claimed). He
"roughhoused" with them while naked in the shower, perhaps playfully
whipping them with a towel sometimes.

Now, of course we all believe he did more, but the people who listened
to that interview, each one of them say that admission alone makes
him one sick dude. Even showering naked and running around naked with
these boys was very inappropriate. He should have never been naked in
front of them. When he made that statement about how if he had to do
it again he wouldn't shower nude with the boys, everyone I listened to
said DUH!

So the fallout from the whole Penn State /Jerry Sandusky probably will
have a fall reaching effect on locker room behavior. Well High School
Students barely take showers as it is now anyway but we are far from
the days where in Junior High (yeah they called it Junior High not
Middle School) I was forced to Line up naked and wait for a towel (and
of course we are light years away from the days where kids would
actually be required to swim nude).

Soon,if we aren't there already, boys will be required to wear a
swimming suit into the shower. And also cover themselves with a towel
as they dress to avoid exposure.

But getting back to my original question. Taking Jerry Sandusky at
his word (only for a moment) would a situation like he described (yeah
they were naked but they were showering and there wasn't any sexual
stuff going on and if someone's parts touched it was certainly
incidental) a) Normal? and b) appropriate?

Kind of reminds me a little bit of Michael Jackson. Yeah, I guess
technically I could see how one can cuddle with a kid without it being
sexual, but really? By the way, you know he kept Nudist Magazines at
his Neverland Ranch.

I think Jerry Sandusky similar to what Michael Jackson did....based on
my observations, but speculating now because I have not yet read the
whole grand jury transcripts....One thing you did not mention what
Jerry Sandusky said in the interview, he admitted to touching the
child's legs...Just that alone should be enough to convict him, I
would say as he incriminated hiimself....another note: the person,
the red haired coach who witnessed the shower incident seem to
contradict what he said....one at the grand jury and another in his
emails to the players....have you heard? but, again, need to wait
until the legal process is concluded and all the facts are out....I am
sick to my stomach about this sexual act with a child, and 8 children
involved...Sick!!

Yes, What he did is no doubt sick beyond belief.

My question though is was it sick to shower naked with the boys?

Should that have, as every commentator I have listened to believes,
been more than a red flag? In fact was that in and of itself crossing
the line?

yeah Bug....the red haired guy did say i think....that he saw the kid
being sodomized......but jerry seemed to say he did not....so i could
understand a good parent touching their childs leg and being naked in
the shower with them and doing horse play in total innocence......all
this new crap that was added to the law books in the seventies has
created quite a ratcheting up of contempt....sexual assault is a new
phrase......which can mean touching someone just about anywhere....it
really is an exaggeration.....sting is another word and action used to
trick someone into committing a crime ....i do not approve of such
shit.....but ya just gotta luv em feminist....they thought all the
shit up.......sting got the dea guy killed in az.......while the out
going lanes to mexico are collecting dust and they just drive through
with out even being stopped or searched....it seems the search system
should be as important when leaving as when entering....it does appear
governments love criminal activity and never think in terms of ending
crime but to promote crime and create jobs and more beauaucry......a t
f and d e a to name a few.......z

Perhaps I missed it but didn't he just say that it "MIGHT" have
happened. like incidentally amidst this "non sexual" naked horseplay.
I thought he wasn't exactly admitting to that happening but it was
pretty stupid admitting to even the possibility of 'accidental touch".

I am sure "accidental touch" happens all the time at nudist venues
especially in the hottubs given how crowded hot tubs can be. Also I am
sure on the volleyball court How do nudist clubs really determine
what touches are truly "accidental" rather than "accidental on
purpose"?

YES to both. Only the sickest of the sick would think otherwise.

Having said that, I should once again mention that Anna is playing
word games with both "normal" and "appropriate." Normal means "what
most other people are or do." High intelligence, a university
education, excellent athletic ability, good looks, and most other
valued traits and achievements are not normal. Anna, as usual, is
making no point at all.

As for "appropriate" -- that too is in the eye of the beholder. As
with "normal" it just means "whatever most other people think or do."
Anna, as usual, engages in meaningless mumbo jumbo.

What Sandusky has said he did is in no way against the law and could
in no way bring harm to others.

Whether he did more than that has yet to be determined, as is whether
any such "more than that" was illegal and/or harmful.

Actually every commentator I listened to said otherwise. They said
just being nude in the presence of children was WAY OVER THE LINE.

Couple of people who have been in sports (on the school level up to
high school) said that those scenes just don't occur these days. It's
bad enough to have to be naked in front of each other but to have the
coach walk in (or I guess he was an assistant couch) would have been
totally humiliating (so these callers said). So I guess nude horseplay
if it ever did occur in locker room situations historically doesn't
occur now normally and the people calling in believed that it should
have been more than a Red Flag but indeed a crime in and of itself.

When I went to school we were required to take a shower and as proof
we had to stand in line to wait to be handed out a towel. A
generation or so earlier of course at least for the males they would
swim nude. We are getting to a point where nudity isn't even
acceptable in a locker room situation and showers must be done with
swimming suits and the brief unavoidable moment of exposure must at
least be attempted to be covered up in some way by one's towel and
locker door. This is for same gender nudity which has in the past been
acceptable in America even despite our puritan ways.

Well, not illegal, but if any coach tries to do that now they will be
fired.

We all know he did it. The question I was asking was whether even his
admitted behavior was way too far.

As an all-American, Mr. Sandusky is the proud owner of an humongous honker.
In the shower he sang,

"Oh, I'd love to be an Oscar Meyer weiner,
That is what I'd truly like to be e eeeeee,
For if I were an Oscar Meyer weiner......
Everyone would want to swallow me!

Thank you and good evening.
