Usenet has been under wholesale assault in the USA. Few ISP systems
carry it anymore.

If you want Usenet you have to locate a free server someplace on the
globe (there remain a few that carry text-only traffic), use Google
Groups, or purchase Usenet from a commercial Usenet carrier such as
Giganews, SuperNews, or TeraNews.

The further demise of Usenet is resulting is less people accessing it.
